Finding a high quality and friendly environment for your child to learn to swim in is paramount to providing both you as a parent and your child as a swimming learner with the confidence to progress.
Many local authority run swimming lessons provide classes with 12+ pupils in leading to minimal pupil to teacher contact and communication and as such a slower development.
This can often lead to a loss of confidence in the child and future inherent issues in relation to water confidence.
SSG’s Fish2Water lessons operate at a 6:1 class ratio in high quality, friendly family focused atmospheres specifically designed to provide the optimum environment for children to learn to swim in.
Our staff are specifically trained to work in close proximity to the children within the water and develop not only technique but also confidence and relationships within the water.
‘Fish2Water Swimming’ was established in 2003 with the aim of providing high quality swimming lessons in small classes for the maximum personal focus and development of all students.
We continue to provide a quality of provision which is unique in our operational area, having successfully seen hundreds of youngsters move swiftly and confidently through our class structure.
Not only do we pride ourselves on the quality of the swim teaching within ‘Fish2Water Swimming’ but also on our excellent customer service.
To assist families with two or more children swimming with us we always endeavour to place siblings in lessons at the same time or if this is not possible, in consecutive time slots.
Each child’s progression is continuously monitored, and families receive an end of term report which provides feedback about their child’s development through the term.
Classes run weekly for 30 minutes in 15 week blocks meaning a consistent and regular lesson with the same teachers each week developing confidence and working towards progressing through our badge structure at an appropriate pace.
Our Starfish class is a parent and child class for 6 month – 3 years. 1 parent/adult accompanies baby into the water and works with our class teacher to learn supports and techniques to develop a stong bond, confidence and affinity within the water whilst also progressing the child to be comfortable in a range of important positions within the water in preparation for independent swimming classes.
Our Tiddlers class is for children once they have reached the age of 3 years, these are beginner lessons without a parent/guardian.
These classes are taught by a qualified teacher and assistant who are both in the water. Instructors will use games, songs and play whilst also developing the children’s water confidence and skills.

These classes are led by a qualified teacher who is poolside. This allows for the teacher to observe the children’s swimming most effectively while ensuring consistent stroke and skill development along with improved deep water confidence. Children will also be swimming longer distances developing strength and stamina.
Our Minnows classes are aimed at children who are water confident and can swim up to 25 metres front crawl, backstroke and who have a basic understanding of breaststroke and butterfly body action. These classes ensure stroke technique is developed efficiently.

Our staff will endeavour to actively encourage positive behaviour through affirmation, encouragement and a desire to build the self-esteem and value of all who attends the lesson and they will challenge negative behaviour when it occurs.
On the first instance of bad behaviour the teacher will correct the behaviour. On the second instance of bad behaviour, that is similar to the first, the teacher will reprimand in a firmer manner (this may result in the child sitting on the side). If there is a third instance or if the child acts in an unsafe or violent way the teacher will report the issue and steps taken to the poolside supervisor who will speak to the parents to ensure a plan is put in place for the child’s continued attendance.
The waiting list can vary in length and is dependent upon the child’s ability and your requirements (i.e. timings, days).
Fish2Water understands that your child’s swimming lessons can be one of their most memorable moments. After the first lesson with Georgie and Shanesh, Lois was made to feel so special and that she could do anything! She has overcome her fear of jumping in and really looks forward to her swimming lessons. So very grateful to the instructors and they are to be praised for their efforts. Every other swim school in Bedford should be closed down and Fish2Water should take over!
My granddaughter has very much enjoyed her lessons over the last couple of years and thanks to the teachers she is now able to swim.
Teacher Ben was fantastic. He was so patient and brilliant with the kids. Both Hannah and Marcus really enjoyed their lessons.
Very happy with the lessons. Ella loves coming and is learning so much, Ben and Balve are just fantastic.
Oscar and Naomi are being taught by Emma who is absolutely superb with them. It is a pleasure to watch. Their swimming and confidence in the water is gaining weekly.
The instructors are lovely, the smaller classes are brilliant and the instructors being in the pool really helps.
Thanks for a fantastic year of swimming. Thomas has learnt so much and come on such a long way since he first started earlier this year. You have a great team of workers.
Kats mannerisms, patience and professionalism with her class is the best I have ever seen.
Wanted to communicate about my fantastic experience with the starfish class. The class was run by Cat who from beginning to end made the class not only fun for the kiddies but knowledgeable for the adults. In a 30 minute class I learnt 3 new techniques to use when swimming with my son.
Thank you Georgie and your team for the swimming lessons Ronnie has received as a result he is a very confident boy in the water.
Both Sophie and Mikey have loved their 6 years of swimming with you – Sophie from a baby. Your lessons have given them a love of swimming and a true confidence in the water. If they do go on to swim at club level then this will be because of the amazing foundations that you have laid down with your classes.
Jack thoroughly enjoyed his booster week during the holidays. I was so impressed with the friendly and competent staff, so much so that I booked Jack to start swimming every week.
Absolutely loved the course was buzzing afterwards. Learnt so much.
